Usually this time of year there’s a push to clean out, organize, and start the new year fresh. Since moving into a house I’m itching to get super organized. What I’m finding out is it’s much different organizing a home than an apartment. I’m used to small apartments where I have my room to store and organize and that’s it. My vanity stuff, a few towels, closet, and one shelf for my books and other things and that’s it. Now, I have so many more rooms to think about and even more stuff. I’m not complaining don’t get me wrong, I love having more space. But I’m learning I have to get creative with storage to make room and function properly.
I wouldn’t call myself a neat freak, but I’m definitely not afraid to clean out when needed and prefer not to have extra things laying around I don’t need. I’m more of an organizer freak than neat freak…if that makes sense. A perfectly sorted kitchen makes me happy (no junk drawers for me.) Since I’m in organizing mode, I wanted to share a few ideas I’ve used and found helpful, or want to try in the future.
I just purchased the materials for this mason jar organizer via DIY Playbook last weekend and hope to make it this weekend. I plan on hanging it above my vanity to store lip glosses and makeup brushes but it would work great in a bathroom as well.
Am I the only one who’s never thought of this? If you have a laundry room big enough, I love the idea of hanging the iron board so it’s accessible, but out of the way.
I came up with this idea before I saw it on Pinterest and was pretty impressed with myself. Ha. Take shower curtain hooks and a hanger to organize scarves. This works perfectly!

A quick search on Pinterest and you’ll find a TON more storage ideas…and wish you had a bigger kitchen.
I’d love to hear: are you super organized or are you more relaxed about it?
