One of the most common myths in the world of decorating is that the whole process is fast. Most people are shocked to find out decorating one room, let alone an entire house, can take six months or more. Or if you are like me, it’s never truly finished because I’m constantly switching things out and rearranging. To make the decorating process seem less daunting and time-intensive, I’m going to blog about quick tips that you can do in just a couple hours that will have you on your way to a well-styled home.
Every week I will share a new decorating tip ranging from how to arrange pillows to choosing lighting and everything in between. I will intentionally make each tip short and simple so you can easily apply it to your own home over the weekend or when you have a spare hour or two. Decorating in small bits will make it feel less overwhelming. If you continue to follow the tips every week your home will soon be thoughtfully styled, well organized, and hopefully a better version of what you started with!
This week’s tip is organizing your bookshelf by color. This is a simple (and free!) way to instantly make your shelf look intentional and stylish. Group items by color family and suddenly you’ll notice how much more organized the space feels. Try it at home and share your work by tagging me @amandarisius. Don’t forget to take a before photo so you can compare :)
