We got back from vacation on Friday night and while I was a little sad to say good-bye to the snow-capped mountains and cool temperatures, it always feels good to be home. Our trip was perfect with just the right amount of relaxation and adventure. We spent the mornings hiking and rafting, relaxing in the afternoons, then explored the town and ate dinner in the evenings. On our hikes we were stopped short of the scenic lake views because of snow. I never even considered the fact that snow was still remaining on popular trails, but after about a mile in, we had to turn around because our shorts and tennis shoes weren’t enough to tackle the knee-deep snow. We spoke to a few other hikers and apparently you can reach the end with snowshoes.
Before we left, I was fearful of the long drive ahead of us because we decided to not stop and drive all the way through. Jordon and I have been together for five years but even we would run out of things to talk about, making for a long drive. I knew I had to pack some reading material to help pass the time on our 9 hour drive. I stopped at Target to get a few last minute snacks for the drive and picked up a couple of my favorite celebrity magazines.
Perhaps one of my not so celebrated qualities is my guilty pleasure for celebrity gossip. Out of my friends I am always the one who is up on the latest break up, knows all of Brad and Angelina’s kids’ names, what Kim Kardashian wore yesterday and of course anything related to the housewives or The Bachelorette (speaking of, who are your favorites so far??)….it sort of just comes naturally to me and I honestly just find celeb news interesting. I love flipping through the magazines to see the latest fashion and read the big headlines, but there are always great recipes and workout routines too. Jordon got an earful on the latest news, but as the hours drug on, I also learned that out of Zoe, Nicky, Kandi, Lily, and Dakota, his favorite name is Dakota. We actually enjoyed the car ride together and learned a few new things about each other (serious or not it still counts!) thanks to the magazines.
