Welcome to the newly updated Hammer and Heels! As you can see, things are pretty different around here. I’ve made the leap from Blogger to WordPress and completely redesigned the blog for a new look and feel. So, what do you think?!
It all started in April when I attended Go Blog Social. I came away from the blog conference with loads of inspiration and a laundry list of things to do for my blog — a redesign being one. While the process took much longer than I expected (I originally wanted to launch the end of May), I am SO happy with the results and I’m glad I took the time to do it right. My new logo was illustrated by Lauren of A Fabulous Fete, and it couldn’t have turned out better! If you are looking for a calligrapher, I highly suggest her. I purchased my domain, hosting and WordPress theme, and much of the time was spent customizing the theme, optimizing WordPress, and creating resources for you guys. I was new to the whole process and if I’m being truly honest, it was a bit overwhelming at times tackling a redesign with little experience. There were MANY late nights working on coding with the help of my brother-in-law who was a major lifesaver.
For those of you looking to start a blog, or if you are thinking about purchasing a domain and hosting, I put together a How To Start a Blog resource guide that walks you step by step through the whole process. I know how difficult it can be, so I wanted to put together my tips and resources I found most helpful. Aside from my How to Start a Blog guide, there are lots of other features on the blog so I encourage you to poke around and see what’s new! If you like to receive posts in your inbox, sign up for my feed here and you’ll receive the ultimate resource guide of my go-to affordable home decor and fashion shops I love.
I get a lot of questions about decorating, so I want to start addressing some of those in future blog posts. If you have a hard-to-decorate room, a decorating question, or a DIY request, e-mail me at email@example.com and I will do my best to come up with a solution!
Last but not least, be sure to follow the new blog on Bloglovin’!
