The other day I read something that really resonated with me, “I do not exactly have a favorite season, just a favorite feeling.” What a true statement. I’m very much about the feeling of a snowy day cuddled up with a blanket sipping hot cocoa. And a sunny summer day spent on the beach is right up there on my favorite places list. But, that doesn’t mean winter is my favorite season or that I like summer better than fall. I enjoy the different feelings from each season.
Now that winter is on its way out and we’ve had a little taste of spring, I’m anxious for the flowers to bloom and more hours of daylight.Nothing puts me in the mood for spring like some quick home updates that bring in a little bright color. While I’d love to completely redecorate my home for each season, that’s just unreasonable. I still like to swap out a few things to springify my home and create that “feeling” I’m so excited for. With just a few quick updates you can spruce up your home for spring on a shoestring budget if you shop smart.
If you haven’t heard of Kirklands yet, make yourself familiar because they have incredible prices for anything you could want for your home. I came across them when I was browsing another blog and I got lost on their site for a while just looking at the pretty decor and furniture. I would describe them as a Target meets Hobby Lobby but with an even bigger selection and priced similarly. I have a few things in my shopping bag as I continue to decorate our new home, and I’m also picking up a few things to transition into the spring season because their prices are so good.
Quick Home Updates
1. Swap out textiles
I’m big into pillows as is, and because they’re so affordable, you can bring in three or four new pillows in your bedroom or living room for more color and pattern come spring. Switching textiles like your throws to a lightweight knit also instantly makes it feel more spring. Jillian Harris (Love It Or List It, Too anyone?) swapped out a faux fur blanket and replaced it with a thin knit throw and colorful pillow for the warmer months. So simple and instantly changes the overall feeling.
2. Get a plant or two
Greenery not only brings in a pop of color but it livens (no pun intended, ha) the place. My favorite are actually the sculpted topiary that add some height to a shelf or coffee table.

3. Hang a mirror
I can never have enough light, so when spring rolls around I can’t get enough of the longer brighter days. Mirrors reflect the light and make your space feel bigger and brighter. If you have a small room, I always suggest hanging a mirror.
This post wasn’t sponsored in any way, I just truly love Kirklands and hope you do too.
