I’m sitting in Denver airport right now waiting to make my way back to California. My short trip to Iowa was wonderful! It was nice to feel a little fall crispness in the air. We spent Saturday making chili and watching football which is just the way I like it, and got some stuff done around the house.
Y’all know I’m rug obsessed so you can imagine my excitement when RugsUSA sent me a rug to style. I’m a long-time fan of theirs and receive so many compliments on my Moroccan shag rug (seen here). Not to mention the quality and customer service is great. With RugsUSA’s HUGE selection of rugs, I finally whittled down my search to five favorites. After changing my mind three times which rug I wanted and asking for my sister’s opinion (Does anyone else do that too?) I finally chose the Medea Chevron rug. The bright blue color and traditional style works perfectly in my nautical cabin inspired home.
So here it is….
I LOVE how well the rug fits the room! It’s made of wool and feels so comfy on my feet. One of the most common mistakes I see is people buy their rugs too small for the room. Usually you want your rug to lay underneath your furniture sort of as a guideline to mark the conversation area (your seating area). Often rugs are only large enough to lay underneath the coffee table, which then makes the room look smaller and less cohesive. It’s not a huge deal and you shouldn’t worry about changing your rug out right away, but it’s just a nice tip to remember when making your next rug purchase :)
When I was deciding which size of rug I needed for the room, I thought about the arrangement and the conversation area I wanted to create. I only have one conversation area (the couch and wicker chair) so I knew the rug needed to be large enough to lay underneath both. This called for an 8×10 inch rug. If you are looking for even more detailed tips on choosing the right rug size, check out Emily Henderson’s post and bonus video.I know how expensive rugs can be (Who hasn’t settled on a smaller rug just because the price was cheaper? Guilty.) but RugsUSA has awesome sales and you can often get 50-80% off!
I’m really happy with my rug selection and how everything turned out.
